Five days on two wheels through the mountain roads and wine valleys of one of Argentina’s most spectacular regions.
There is a version of Mendoza that most visitors never see. The wine tours, the restaurant reservations, the leisurely drives through the vineyard districts — those are good. But riding through the Andes on a motorcycle is something else entirely.
This five-day adventure begins in Buenos Aires and moves to Mendoza, where the riding starts. Two full days on the bike take you through some of the most dramatic mountain roads in Argentina: up through Cacheuta and Potrerillos, past the Potrerillos Dam, and into the heart of the Andes at Uspallata. The roads wind through tunnels and across open mountain passes with the kind of scenery that makes you pull over just to look.
Then the experience shifts. Day three trades the open road for Vistalba, one of Mendoza’s finest wine zones, where a visit to Bodega Vistalba pairs a gourmet five-course lunch with the Malbec and Cabernet Franc that the region does better than almost anywhere else on earth. Day four goes deeper into Mendoza’s wine culture with a private winery tour and another winery lunch. By the time you depart on Day 5, you have seen Mendoza from both sides — the wild mountain side and the refined wine side.
“Riding through Mendoza by motorcycle allows you to discover breathtaking mountain roads, scenic valleys, and charming wine regions surrounded by incredible landscapes — combining dramatic scenery, exceptional gastronomy, and unforgettable rides.”
— The Beagle Experience
You land in Buenos Aires and the adventure begins immediately. After arriving from your international flight, the afternoon is yours to explore one of South America’s most compelling cities. Buenos Aires has a particular energy — the neighborhoods of Recoleta and Palermo are worth a wander, with their cafés, bookshops, tree-lined streets, and the kind of European elegance that sets this city apart.
Your accommodation for this first night is a luxury apartment designed for comfort and exclusivity — a more personal and intimate experience than a standard hotel. A private chef prepares exceptional meals during your stay, and a dedicated host accompanies you throughout the day, making sure everything is taken care of before the motorcycle adventure gets underway.
The morning flight from Buenos Aires brings you to Mendoza, where a private transfer waits to take you to Lares de Chacras, your base for the next three nights. After check-in you gear up and the riding begins.
Your first route takes you through some of Mendoza’s most breathtaking mountain landscapes. You ride through Cacheuta, then Potrerillos, where the road traces the edge of the Potrerillos Dam — one of the most striking stretches of mountain road in the entire province. The ride continues through tunnels cut into the rock, across open passes, and through dramatic Andean scenery until you reach Uspallata, sitting at the heart of the mountains.
Lunch is at a hotel in Potrerillos before continuing the route. By the time you return to Mendoza in the evening, the scale of what these roads offer has made itself very clear.
Total riding distance: approximately 250 km.
After breakfast you set out again, continuing the adventure through the spectacular mountain landscapes of Mendoza. The route takes you once more through Cacheuta and Potrerillos before reaching the charming mountain village of Las Vegas. Surrounded by the Andes, these roads offer breathtaking scenery, winding turns, and the kind of panoramic views that reward every curve.
The journey then moves toward Vistalba, one of the region’s most renowned wine zones and home to some of the finest Malbec in the world. At Bodega Vistalba, one of Mendoza’s most prestigious wineries, you arrive for a gourmet five-course lunch carefully paired with exceptional local wines. The contrast between the morning’s open road and this unhurried, elegant lunch is one of the great pleasures of this trip.
Total riding distance: approximately 200 km.
Today the bikes rest and the day belongs entirely to wine. Mendoza has built its reputation on the Malbec grape, and this experience takes you deep into what makes it exceptional. Surrounded by vineyards and the constant backdrop of the Andes, you spend the day immersed in the wine culture that has made this region world famous.
From 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, a private winery tour walks you through the full story of Mendoza wine — from the high-altitude vineyards and irrigation systems that give the wines their particular character, to the cellars, the barrels, and the tasting room. Lunch is included at one of the wineries, pairing the flavors of the wine with the local gastronomy that defines this part of Argentina.
A final breakfast at Lares de Chacras before checking out and transferring to Governor Francisco Gabrielli International Airport for your flight from Mendoza back to Buenos Aires. The flight lands at Aeroparque Jorge Newbery in the city.
Depending on your international flight schedule, you may have time for a half-day city tour in Buenos Aires before making your way to Ezeiza International Airport for your onward or return journey. Your Beagle advisor will coordinate the timing based on your specific connections.
Two distinct accommodation styles across the five days — a curated luxury apartment in Buenos Aires for the first night, and Lares de Chacras in Mendoza for the three riding nights.
Night 1 is spent in a curated luxury apartment in Buenos Aires, designed for comfort and exclusivity. A private chef prepares meals during your stay and a dedicated host accompanies you throughout the day. The apartment offers a more intimate and personal arrival experience than a hotel — a fitting way to begin the adventure.
Located in the Chacras de Coria district just outside Mendoza city, Lares de Chacras is a boutique wine country hotel surrounded by gardens, vineyards, and the permanent presence of the Andes. Warm, characterful, and beautifully appointed, it serves as the perfect base for three nights of mountain riding and winery exploration. Wooden beams, open fireplaces, and a pool set among the gardens make this a hotel guests return to.
Mendoza sits at the eastern base of the Andes, which means the mountains are never far away. On a clear day you can see Aconcagua from the vineyard districts. On a motorcycle, you can be riding through those mountains within an hour of leaving the hotel.
What makes this experience particular is the combination. The riding days give you the raw, physical Mendoza — winding roads, dramatic altitude changes, rock walls, tunnels, and the kind of open pass views that only make sense from two wheels. Then the wine days slow everything down. A long lunch at a serious winery, good Malbec, good food, and a table with a mountain view. Mendoza does both of these things exceptionally well, and this itinerary makes room for both without compromising either.
